complete trust or confidence or strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.


Biblical: Hebrews 11:1-2


King James Version (KJV):

1) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.


2) For by it the elders obtained a good report.



Amplified Version (AMP):

1) Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].


2) For by this [kind of] faith the [a] men of old gained [divine] approval.


***[a] i.e. those men and women who were faithful to GOD before the old covenant and those faithful to GOD after its establishment, those mentioned in this chapter.***



Sentence: Faith without works is dead.
